William Styron had it right when he said, “A great book should leave you with many experiences, and slightly exhausted at the end. You live several lives while reading.”
Right now I’m digging into Little Mercies (available today!) by Heather Gudenkauf – it’s going to be the next title checked off my ‘must read’ list. It will probably be over too soon. You know how it is – you can’t wait to turn the next page, reach the next chapter and gasp at the next plot climax. I’ve shoved one in my purse for work, tucked it in my car for those days I wait for the kids to get out of school and even pulled out my phone to grab a few Kindle chapters while waiting in line at the DMV.
A good book grabs you and doesn’t let go.
Summer time may pull you away from your desk, golden beaches and clear pools calling your name. But, your thirst to turn the pages never stops. You read lake-side, beach-side and sunning in the yard while the children play. No matter if your passion is mystery, thriller, romance or biography – summer is the perfect time to stack up on your reading list. Here are 5 Summer Reads You Don’t Want To Miss.
A powerful and emotionally charged tale about motherhood and justice, Little Mercies is a searing portrait of the tenuous grasp we have on the things we love the most, and of the ties that unexpectedly bring us together.
Veteran social worker Ellen Moore has seen the worst side of humanity—the vilest acts one person can commit against another. She is a fiercely dedicated children’s advocate and a devoted mother and wife. But one blistering summer day, a simple moment of distraction will

By Elin Hilderbrand – 48-year-old Nantucketer Dabney Kimball Beech has always had a gift for matchmaking. Some call her ability mystical, while others – like her husband, celebrated economist John Boxmiller Beech, and her daughter, Agnes, who is clearly engaged to the wrong man – call it meddlesome, but there’s no arguing with her results: With 42 happy couples to her credit and all of them still together, Dabney has never been wrong about romance.
Never, that is, except in the case of herself and Clendenin Hughes, the green-eyed boy who took her heart with him long ago when he left the island to pursue his dream of becoming a journalist. Now, after spending 27 years on the other side of the world, Clen is back on Nantucket, and Dabney has never felt so confused, or so alive. Buy Now on Amazon

An unforgettable novel about finding a lost piece of yourself in someone else.
Khaled Hosseini, the #1 New York Times–bestselling author of The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns, has written a new novel about how we love, how we take care of one another, and how the choices we make resonate through generations. In this tale revolving around not just parents and children but brothers and sisters, cousins and caretakers, Hosseini explores the many ways in which families nurture, wound, betray, honor, and sacrifice for one another; and how often we are surprised by the actions of those closest to us, at the times that matter most. Following its characters and the ramifications of their lives and choices and loves around the globe—from Kabul to Paris to San Francisco to the Greek island of Tinos—the story expands gradually outward, becoming more emotionally complex and powerful with each turning page.
