green mountain coffee fair trade

As an ambassador for Green Mountain Coffee there are so many benefits. Sure, being a coffee lover – getting to work with one of the countries best coffee companies is awesome. New flavors, insight into how it all works and more. But, sometimes it’s about more than just coffee.

Green Mountain Coffee Roaster, Inc was one of the very first roasters to sell Fair Trade Certified coffee. And now they offer one of the largest selection of Fair Trade coffees in the country. And to add to that – GMCR was also confirmed as the world’s largest purchaser of Fair Trade coffee by Fair Trade USA.

Pumpkin Spice – If you ask coffee lovers what flavor they look forward to this time of year, most will say Pumpkin! GMCR’s Pumpkin Spice offers you fresh pumpkin pie in a cup. Warm and creamy, both the spices and the sweetness are subtle yet delicious. This is a limited edition flavor – so get it while you can! Buy Now

Colombian Fair Trade Select – This light, flavorful brew is a celebration of taste. Starting with aromas that remind you of apricot jam then flooding your taste buds with a hint of green apples and raisins. Is that walnut I taste? Buy Now

Sumatran Reserve Organic Extra Bold – For the strong coffee lover, this roast is deep and deliciously dark, offering a sweet mix of brown sugar and spice. This is the perfect cup for a cold early morning that will wake you up and get you moving. Buy Now

So what IS Fair Trade?

green mountain coffee fairtradeBuying Fair Trade goods, including coffee, ensures that workers in 70 countries are paid fairly for their work, given safe working conditions and also access to healthcare and education. Fair Trade companies also pay higher prices for organic crops, giving incentives to food producers to increase the availability of organic foods and beverages here in the United States. Even better – producers are taught how to implement sustainable farming and agrochemicals and GMOs are strictly prohibited.

Green Mountain Coffee is extending their selection of Fair Trade Certified beverages with Pumpkin Spice, Colombian Fair Trade Select, and Sumatran Reserve Organic.

GMCR has also teamed up with musicians Grace Potter and Michael Franti for an awareness program called “Great Coffee, Good Vibes, Pass It On” to celebrate and encourage Fair Trade. Earlier this year GMCR sent Grace to Columbia and Michael to Sumatra so they could get a first-hand experience with the difference Fair Trade makes in the lives of workers around the world.

You can see more videos and get information on Fair Trade at the Green Mountain Coffee Facebook page.
