New Years Resolutions [infographic]

With a new year comes a new list of all the things we want to accomplish we hope we don’t fail miserably at. I’m sure millions of people are already sneaking their first post-new-year-quit cigarette while others are reasoning with themselves about why they don’t have to start their diet until the second week of January (I mean c’mon… those holiday treats are still in the fridge and there are starving people so let’s not be wasteful). So what did I resolve to do with the brand new 365 days? Nothing.

That’s right: nothing. Tacking the word ‘resolution’ onto anything is the easiest way to make sure you never do it. Instead, I’ve made myself a short list of “Things That Would Make Me Happier”. Of course, this doesn’t make them any easier to carry out. But, at least I won’t feel like a total failure when people ask if I’ve kept my resolutions.

“No. No I haven’t. But I didn’t make any.”

See? Easy way out. Guilt free. I’m sure you couldn’t care less what’s on my list. It’s boring really. Nothing on it would change the world outside my own personal bubble. But, I’m still interested when I hear other people’s resolutions; both the usual and the absurd. It’s one time per year that you get a glimpse into what people really dislike about themselves.

I know. Deep.
